After 3 or 4 meetings, QC stops even treating them as enemies and starts treating them as friends (or trusted buddies, it is just that he predicts their greed and takes it as his own power to get what he needs) even helping them to get second best outcome. Except, this (being perpetual 2nd best) is a torn for both of them and they start running away as soon they even smell a whiff that QC might be near, but fate always turns to shit and the more they run, the more they are bound to meet him which starts to become fear and then it transcends to horror. Fun fact is that QC always makes sure they get something good and he even helps them fighting for the spoils.

In summary you’re right. From antagonistic rivalries to comedic relief. Of coz by then QC had improved so much that this duo become stepping stone.
